The Caneplex Michalakis Company was founded in 1963 by Michael Michalakis, having its headquarters in Manolada, Ilia, with the object until today of the manufacture of reeds, exclusively using Greek rod.
Vertically integrated craft industry
The only vertically integrated craft industry producing knitted canes in its own plantations.
Zinc-coated wire
We are the only ones using zinc-coated wire of specific standards rather than just galvanised wire for tying the knitted canes.
Two-year-old cane

Only our canes, exclusively marked CANE PLEX DIET CROP CANE on the packaging hoop, are the only natural shading material on the market with, 100% ORGANIC CERTIFICATION NOP of USDA
WHAT DISTINGUISHES US
We are the only craft industry producing knitted canes exclusively made from TWO-YEAR-OLD canes (canes, which have been for two years on our plantation) as we have our own plantations. This is also the reason why we are granted the ΝΟΡ Certification ( NATIONAL ORGANIC PROGRAM) by the USDA.
We let canes grow and following the selective harvest of two-year-old canes, only during the winter season, we leave one-year-old canes for the next harvest. Two-year-old canes are stiffer and more resistant to processing and are staying longer on the product. They may be maintained in any way and do not shrink like one-year-old canes after being cut down.
